Assimilation
What is assimilation?
Assimilation is the process in which a minority group or culture comes to resemble a society's majority group or assume the values, behaviors, and beliefs of another group whether fully or partially.
Are there any benefits to assimilating to a new culture?
Assimilation could lower barriers immigrants and natives face in interacting with one another and thus enhance benefits. However, assimilation could reduce heuristic differences between immigrants and native-born workers
Should students give up their cultural identity (or parts of it) when in a new environment? Why or why not?
In my opinion, no they shouldn't give their cultural identity in a new environment, yes they can get used to their new environment so they can feel comfortable but they should've given up on their cultural identity just to "fit in".
